(New York, February 10) The Mayor of New York and the School Boards of Nassau and Suffolk Counties have announced the public schools will be closed to honor the birth 17 years ago today of Samantha Phillips. Many work places have also announced they will either allow their workers to leave early or not require them to come in at all so they may observe Samantha's birthday. The school boards and the mayors office officially say they have closed the schools because of the pending large snow storm, but sources within the Mayors office say that the real reason is because of Ms. Phillips birthday.
