Today is FREEDOM DAY in South Africa. It celebrates freedom and is the date of the first post apartheid national elections. It is a public holiday around the country. The streets are quiet, but the school is buzzing with students. Just around the corner from the school I noticed a donkey grazing...peacefully.
I marked Freedom day in two ways: a) Caught a cold, at a time of year that seems ridiculous and b) had a near meeting with my maker as I unlocked the door to get the am paper and was stung by a wasp.Panicked a little as last time I had to rush to the ER and successive times get worse...downed 2 benadryls immediately and miraculously I just had a swollen finger and a drowsy mind. It also helped the cold.
ReplyDeleteThese are very pedestrian comments on a truly wonderfully memorable day-- and it seems to me so right that it be celebrated as a national holiday. I'm not sure why the donkey was the visual accompaniment to the Freedom day text-- but I'm certainly not going to argue with the journalist!! Love..xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
